Green Growth, as a low-carbon and high-efficiency economic system, is the recommended approach that present and future economies should take, especially those developing countries that are aiming for sustainable economic growth. However, most of the green growth strategies taken so far have been the climate change mitigation approach – of which main focus is to reduce carbon emissions through the transfer of growth engines – rather than the climate change adaptation approach. Given that climate change adversely and immensely affects developing countries in particular, the key to success in low-carbon and green economic growth for developing countries is to timely and effectively adapt to climate change along with taking a mitigation approach; green growth and climate change adaptation are inseparable.

In the real world, the adverse impacts of climate change are initiated by climate variability at year-to-year or season-to-season time scales, including extreme weather events and such climate variability has shown great socio economic damages to vulnerable communities every year.
